I’m so excited to share the wonderful Scott family holiday portraits! They were such a joy to shoot, plus they were excited. Thanking Mom for wanting to capture the moment while she was in town, she new she would have her Children and grandchildren in the same place during the holidays and wanted to make sure the moment was captured. That’s how you do it!!!
The smiles and happiness between Mom and her children are priceless, I really had a wonderful time seeing their smiles and how happy they were to be in each others presence. This is Family, This is Love and this is a family that is blessed!
Enjoy, and happy holidays from the Scott Family!
With the new addition to the Marshall family Mom was ready for some updated portraits and what a wonderful shoot it was. If Mom and dad look a little familiar it might be because they were with me back in March doing their maternity shoot waiting the arrival of Devyn! This was a beautiful shoot and a great time to capture their family portraits!
Thank you so much Marshall family wishing you all a very Happy Holidays!
Those of you who follow me on Instagram may have seen a sneak peek of this extremely handsome little fella! This is Graham, and it was a pure joy to work with…from his smile, his curiosity and his dance moves we had a really good time on this shoot. As I sat editing his portraits I began to smile, because his smile made me smile. Thank you Graham for such a wonderful shoot and for being such a wonderful happy little boy.
So I’ve been wanting to do some before and after’s for a while. Mainly because I never show them, but I really wanted to let you all see the process. So when I was asked to test out the sleeklens Photoshop actions , I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.
Now, I’ve always been hesitant of using some of the Photoshop portrait actions that are out there, mainly because when I see the examples…they are usually not of African American’s.
If I use actions, it’s because it takes a lot of time off of my post processing and I can have a better turnaround for my clients. I’m not looking to spend 45mins on one image because I have to make adjustments to a Photoshop action.
But with all that being said, I picked five portraits and used the sleeklens Photoshop actions. With these actions, it was pretty easy to use. I like the Portrait Retouch and the Dodge and Burn(from a candy store)…A lot, These two actions made enhancing the eye color process very easy and fast and also softening the skin worked great also. I also liked using the Color Corrections, you can reduce some of the over barring colors that are in the images which the greens and reds work perfect!
Over all, I would recommend using Sleeklens, it does take some time figuring out what works best for your workflow and your style, but that’s with any post processing method you choose.
With this portrait I chose to use the portrait fast retouch for the eyes, I also used the base from golden hours.
The next four were a combination of Portrait smooth skin, Color correction and Base.
What a joy it was to shoot this beauty. Jaiyda was in the Atlanta area visiting the campus of #ClarkAtlantaUniversity which will soon be her college home starting in the fall!
Jaiyda’s a very smart, hardworking and dedicated young lady, that is very determined to be successful. Clark Atlanta was one of her top schools to attend, so I was truly excited when I found out she was accepted… plus I’ll be able to see her more often!!
I’m wishing her much success and happiness as she starts this new chapter in her life! Continue to reach for SUCCESS, you deserve it!

She’s the first child, first niece, and the first grandchild…so you’ll understand the love and all the beautiful moments in these portraits.
I pray when she’s old enough and sees these images, she see’s Love that’s always been around her.
So often we pass up opportunities to leave the next generation a portrait of knowing or wanting to know who we are.
How often have you heard family members say you resemble someone in the family that you’ve never seen? Maybe it’s your eyes, nose or that little dimple you have on your chin. But the only problem is, there’s no picture…so you’ll continue to hear the stories and never see an image.
Here’s a few suggestions to help you get that photo shoot checked off your to do list this year.
-With New Year resolutions in full effect, reward yourself with a photo shoot when you reach a particular goal.
-Book a session for when you know family members will be in town for Family Reunions, Mothers Day, Easter or any other holiday.
-If your on a tight budget, check out Living Social or Groupon…some of my favorite clients are those who purchased from these two companies.
-If you’re not sure what photography company to use…CHOOSE ME! 😉 Or ask close friends, family or coworkers for recommendations.
Whatever your reasons, let 2015 be the year to make it happen.
I’ll leave you with this quote from a recent client:
“Mom you should take a picture by yourself, if something happens to you at least we’ll have a recent picture to use”.
